This is a State of Texas Court Mandated 6-Hour Driver Safety Class for Traffic Violations, Employment requirements, or Insurance requests.
Please Bring the Permission Letter from Your Court if taking the class for a traffic violation, Your Driver's License, a Pen, and a Face Mask to the Class.
Before registering or taking the Defensive Driving Class at Caltronic - Please contact the Local Municipal or County Clerk for permission to take the class. You must present the letter to the class instructor only if you are taking the class for a traffic violation.
You may register for the 1-day, 6-hour class from 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM on any day of the week except Sundays.

1. Why take a Defensive Driving Safety Class?
Answer: Any Texas Traffic Court will dismiss your traffic ticket if you plea no contest and request to take the 6-hour Defensive Driving Safety Class.
Four Reasons for taking the Defensive Driving Class
1. To Dismiss your ticket: By taking this course for a violation, you can keep the traffic violation points off your driving record.
2. To Reduce your insurance rate: Your insurance provider will give you a discount for taking this class. You can typically get a 10% rate reduction.
3. To Learn valuable safe-driving information and techniques to prevent accidents that last a lifetime. Develop a pro-driving attitude while driving. Become aware of mistakes that can lead to collisions or traffic tickets.
4. To meet Pre-employment Requirements: Some companies require that you complete a Safe Driving Class before employment.
2. What should I do after I got a traffic violation ticket?
Answer: Contact the local city or county traffic court where you got your ticket and request to take the Defensive Driving Safety Class at Caltronic. You must obtain the court's permission to take the Class for a traffic violation and then bring your permission letter to the class.
3. How do I know If I can take the class?
Answer: When you visit the traffic clerk's office concerning your violation you will ask the clerk for permission to take the Defensive Driving Safety Class. If qualified, the clerk will give you all the necessary paperwork to bring to Caltronic Defensive Driving School to take your class.

Answer: We are located at 9225 S R L Thornton Fwy Dallas, TX 75232 on the Southbound Service Road of I-35E Freeway between Wheatland and Danieldale Exits.

5. When can I take the class?
Answer: You may take the class on any day of the week at your convenience or after you have obtained permission from the court if you are taking the class for a traffic violation.
Presently, we are offering the class on any day of the week, except Sundays. You may register for the 1-Day, 6-Hour Class from 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM Monday to Saturday or
You may register for the 2-Day, 3-Hour Class from 10:30 AM to 1: 30 PM Monday to Saturday or 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM Monday to Saturday.
No Class is Offered on Sundays.
6. How do I pay for the class?
Answer: You can pay with Cash, Card, GooglePay, CashApp, or Zelle at the time of registration or class time.
7. Can I call in to register for the class?
Answer: Yes. Text your Name, and the Date and Time you prefer to take the class. Choose either the 1 or 2-Day Class. Text to 214-997-4111.
8. Can I come in and register for the class?
Answer: Yes. You can visit our office and register at any time between the hours of 10:30 AM and 6:PM. Ask your questions in person and we will be happy to answer.
9. Can I text you my questions?
Answer: Yes. When you text your questions you will get priority. Text us all your questions and we will respond immediately. Sometimes the office is busy and talking on the phone is not permitted, so we encourage you to text your questions. Please do not ask the same questions you read here.
10. How many people will be in the class?
Answer: We offer group and one-on-one classes at your convenience.
11. What do I need to bring to the class?
Answer: Bring all your paperwork, including your permission letter from the court or traffic clerk's office if you are taking the class for a traffic violation, a pen, and your face mask.
12. Can I bring a friend or child to the class?
Answer: No. Anyone you bring to the class will have to pay for the class. You cannot take care of a child at the same time concentrating on the materials of the class.
13. Do you serve lunch at the class?
Answer: No. In this class, lunch is not served. Lunch is served only when the class is conducted at a restaurant with a student count of 10 or more in attendance. We are offering these classes for your convenience during the Pandemic period. You will get break times and a lunch break during the class.
14. Is the Class consist of just watching videos?
Answer: No. The State of Texas requires that the class must consist of lectures and videos. The class will consist of discussions and watching videos. You are required to take notes. It will not be boring.
15. How do I get my Class Certificate?
Answer: The class certificate is mailed to your address within 15 - 21 days. However, you may request to pick up your class certificate from your instructor within 15 days or by the next business day or 10-day expedited service after you have made special arrangements.
16. How long is the Class?
Answer: The class is a 6-Hour State of Texas-mandated session. You may take the class in a 1-Day, 6-Hour class from 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM or you may take the 2-Day, 3-Hour class from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM or 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM. Register for whichever class is convenient for you on any day of the week except Sundays.
17. Is your school licensed by Texas?
Answer: Caltronic Defensive Driving School is licensed by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations in Austin, Texas
18. Can I use my class certificate in any traffic court in Texas for my violation?
Answer: Yes. Your class certificate can be used in any traffic court in Texas. However, you must get permission from the local city or county traffic clerk before taking the Defensive Driving Safety Class for your violation. They will give you the necessary paperwork and a permission letter to take to the class instructor for signing.
19. Can I use my class certificate in a traffic court in another State for a traffic violation?
Answer: Yes, Caltronic Defensive Driving School has done it before but the student must first get permission from that State traffic court and we had to send that court a Texas class syllabus for them to approve. First, ask the traffic court, and we will be happy to send them a class syllabus on your behalf then you can come and take the class.
20. When do I get my class certificate?
Answer: Upon completion of the Defensive Driving class you will receive a Certificate of Completion. However, the Texas Dept of Licensing and Regulations (TDLR) does not allow schools to issue the certificate the same day you are taking the class for a traffic violation. The certificate must be sent to your mailing address or picked up later. After completion of the class, the instructor will issue a receipt showing you have completed the 6-hour class and will advise you to expect to receive your certificate within 10 to 21 days. If you need your certificate before the expected date then request for the next business day or expedite the processing of your certificate from your instructor.
You have 3 Options:
a. By regular mail within 15 - 21 days
b. By picking up your certificate within 12 days from our office.
c. By expediting mail within 10 - 15 days.
d. By the next business day by special arrangement with your instructor.
21. If I received a Traffic Violation Ticket, can I first take the Defensive Driving Class and then take my certificate to the court?
Answer: No. You are not following instructions. You are doing the process backward. Read question #2 above.
22. Do I need to bring a copy of my Driving Record to the Class?
Answer: No. You do not need to bring your Driving Record to the class.
How do I get a copy of my Driving Record to take back to the court?
Answer: The Traffic Court Clerk will inform you if you need a copy of your Driving Record from Austin, Texas. They will also tell you how to get a copy of your Driving Records from Austin, Texas. However, you can get a copy of your Driving Record from us the same day you are taking the class by requesting it from your instructor.
Class Refund Policy:
There is no refund once you registered and prepaid for the class. You will be able to reschedule for one other class date within your court expiration period.
There is no refund for any reason once you sign in and the class begins. You will be able to reschedule for one other class date during your court expiration period.
There is no refund once you begin writing into the class handbook, registration form, or study guide. You will be able to reschedule for one other class date within your court expiration period and continue to use the same class handbook and study guide.
There is no refund or reschedule for any reason if you deliberately abandoned the class or once you have completed the class.
A Confirmation Text Message will be sent to you once you have registered for the class.
